Utah’s Senate has approved a bill to ban the practice of online gambling in their state.
The bill must now return to the Utah House of Representatives (House Bill 108) where it is expected to easily pass and head to the governor’s desk for his signature.
Bill sponsor Stephen Sandstrom says “We want to keep Utah free from the negative impacts of legalised gambling.”
Utah has long been one of only two states where all forms of gambling are prohibited, with the other being Hawaii. However, some efforts are being made in Hawaii to pursue online gambling, which would leave Utah as the sole holdout in the US.
